Paseo Verde set to play in Little League World Series after rain postpones game

Heavy rain in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, has postponed all Little League World Series games to Friday.

That includes Paseo Verde Little League’s debut in this year’s tournament, which begins with a first-round game against Hamilton, Ohio.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 a.m. Friday at Howard J. Lamade Stadium.

The game, which was supposed to start at 11 a.m. PT, was initially pushed to 3 p.m. due to the inclement weather.

Forecasts call for sun on Friday, but the rain is expected to return throughout the weekend. The National Weather Service says there is a chance for showers and fog on Saturday, followed by showers and a chance of thunderstorms on Sunday.

Changes have not been made to the schedules for those days as of yet. The winner of Paseo Verde and West Side Little League is set to play Sunday, with the loser facing elimination on Saturday.

Paseo Verde is in the Little League World Series for the second time in three years. It’s the fourth straight year a team from Nevada is playing in Williamsport.
