Bishop Gorman football uses running game to bounce back, beat Lone Peak
by Alex Wright / Las Vegas Review-Journal · Las Vegas Review-JournalHIGHLAND, Utah — The Bishop Gorman football team, ranked No. 8 nationally by MaxPreps and USA Today, defeated Lone Peak (Utah) 38-14 Friday night and bounced back after its loss last Saturday at Christopher Columbus (Florida).
Gorman (3-1) has not lost back-to-back games since 2018. The Gaels led 28-7 at halftime.
Noah Cole, Corey Hinton Jr., and Trey Washington each rushed for a touchdown in the first half on Friday. Cole led Gorman with 96 rushing yards.
Gorman four-star sophomore defensive back Brayley Manning had two first-half interceptions. Tamatoa Gaoteote recovered a fumble and returned it more than 30 yards for a touchdown right before halftime.
Gorman has a bye next week and concludes the out-of-state portion of its schedule at No. 15 Mater Dei (California) on Sept. 18. The Gaels are 0-5 all-time against Mater Dei.
