LETTER: Primm cl0ses down
by Mike Ginsburg Henderson · Las Vegas Review-JournalExorbitantly high prices in Las Vegas killed Primm (Thursday Review-Journal). The main tree trunk of Las Vegas sucked up so much of the money watering the system that the saplings surrounding it at Primm died of thirst. Middle-income customers, the people enjoying the journey and inclined to meander and stop along the way to Las Vegas, shrunk. They were displaced by “get to the destination” travelers. Not even truckers could sustain the businesses on the state border.
There just aren’t enough people within the psychographic marketing niche anymore. This ,coupled with a robust “inside the vehicle” technological entertainment that minimizes the desire to stop along the way, caught up.
An alternative use for all those abandoned rooms and infrastructure in Primm? How about housing Nevada’s homeless population right there?
