LETTER: The Sun publisher gets desperate

by · Las Vegas Review-Journal

The publisher of the Las Vegas Sun is making another desperate attempt to have the Review‑Journal print his publication. Several readers complained when the Sun was missing from their morning paper. One reader said he wanted “both sides” and would unsubscribe from the RJ. Now what is he going to do? Subscribe to the Los Angeles Times and then find another paper with the quality of the RJ just to get both perspectives?

Many left‑leaning readers want something others are paying for. The publisher of the Sun has acknowledged that his paper cannot survive without the RJ, and some readers threaten to cancel their subscriptions because they expect to receive something for free.

In my case, I was paying for something I did not want. I stay informed by seeking out a variety of viewpoints through other sources. The Sun, in my view, was simply unreadable.
