A’s use big 6th-inning rally to beat Rockies for 4th straight win

And for the third straight game, the A’s went to their bench to help them dig out of the hole.
Tyler Soderstrom came in to pinch hit in the sixth inning and his RBI double gave the A’s the lead in a three-run inning, as they held off Colorado 7-5 Saturday night at Las Vegas Ballpark.
The A’s (35-35) will look to compete the three-game sweep of the Rockies (26-45) at 12:05 p.m. Sunday at Las Vegas Ballpark, where temperatures are expected to be in triple digits by first pitch.
It’s the fourth straight win for the A’s and fifth in the past six games.
On Saturday, the A’s used the bottom of their lineup to get a spark in the sixth inning. Zack Gelof, the No. 7 hitter, singled with with two outs. No. 9 hitter Alika Williams singled to score Gelof and even the game at 5-5.
Then Soderstrom was called off the bench and his booming double down the left-field line scored Williams from first. The A’s loaded the bases, drawing back-to-back walks and Soderstrom later scored when Jonah Heim was hit by a pitch to take a 7-5 lead.
Joey Estes, making his 2026 MLB debut, was given the start for the A’s. The 24-year-old right-hander had a 4-2 lead entering the top of the fifth inning, which is when Colorado broke through for a big inning.
Estes was pulled with one out in the inning after giving up a sacrifice fly to Brett Sullivan. Sterlin Thompson doubled and later scored on a Jose Suarez wild pitch to tie the game at 4-4. The Rockies took the lead on a TJ Rumfield double that scored Edouard Julien, and remained as a one-run double when Willi Castro was thrown out at home.
The A’s jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run single by Jacob Wilson, who recorded his first RBIs since May 8 after he missed more than a month due to a shoulder injury.
Colorado’s first hit came on a Sullivan solo homer in the third inning, and the Rockies tied it at 2-2 when Troy Johnston singled, and was thrown out trying to got to second base, to score Rumfield.
Gelof hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the A’s a 4-2 lead and extend his career-high hit streak to 17 games.
Williams led the A’s going 3-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk. Gelof and Bolte were each 2-for-4 for the A’s, with Gelof adding two RBIs and two runs scored.
