Golden Knights lose key defenseman to ejection in Game 5
by Adam Hill / Las Vegas Review-Journal · Las Vegas Review-JournalThe Golden Knights faced an early deficit against Anaheim in Game 5 of their second-round series at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday night.
They were also down a key defenseman.
Brayden McNabb was given a 5-minute major penalty for interference and issued a game misconduct after delivering a crushing check on Ducks’ forward Ryan Poehling midway through the first period. Poehling was laid out on the ice before being escorted to the locker room.
The call was confirmed by video review and McNabb was ejected.
Anaheim capitalized on the opportunity on a Beckett Sennecke goal to take a 1-0 lead, but did no further damage.
The Knights then tied the score 3:37 later on Pavel Dorofeyev’s power-play goal, which was set up when Mitch Marner raced through the defense and drew a slashing penalty that prevented a breakaway.
Anaheim and the Knights have split the first four games of the series.
