Aces clinch top-four seed, early home-court advantage with win over Sparks

The Las Vegas Aces will begin the WNBA playoffs at “The House.”

Four Aces players finished in double figures, led by A’ja Wilson with a team-high 18 points, as Las Vegas defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 89-79 on Tuesday at Michelob Ultra Arena.

Wilson also added 10 rebounds and two assists for her 19th double-double of the season as the Aces clinched home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs beginning on Sunday.

It marked the 31st time this season that the four-time MVP has led the team in scoring. Wilson currently leads the WNBA, averaging 26.2 points per game.

Chelsea Gray finished second on the team with 17 points while shooting 58% from the field, including two 3-pointers. The other half of the duo that won gold at the FIBA World Cup with Team USA also added three assists and two steals while ranking fourth in the league in assists per game at 6.7.

The Aces remain third in the WNBA standings but can no longer catch the Golden State Valkyries for the second seed in the playoffs. Las Vegas remains one game ahead of the Atlanta Dream and two games ahead of the Indiana Fever with one regular season game remaining.
