LETTER: The devolution of the State of the Union address
by RJ Liepins Henderson · Las Vegas Review-JournalThere was a time, many years ago, that the State of the Union address was listened to and then discussed reasonably. Now it has become a sideshow of liberal hysteria. We will show our displeasure by not attending. We will not have to clap or show respect. We will obstruct with every chance that we get. We will take our toys and go home.
I have friends who are liberal. They are very much like elected Democrats. They don’t have the capacity to debate issues. They talk loudly and, when their positions are shown to have weakness, they pick up their toys and go home, too.
How can so many be on the wrong side of the issues, yet not see it? Worse yet is that Democrats see that they are on the wrong side but find it impossible to give up the hate that drives them to obstruct everything Trump. Our beloved country is what suffers because of this.
