Las Vegas might see nine 90-degree days in March. There were only 13 from 1937 to 2025.

The historic Southwest heat wave has broken another Las Vegas weather record and was on track to produce almost as many 90-degree March days this month in Southern Nevada as in the past almost nine decades.

The most 90-degree March days Las Vegas had seen in a single year was three, which happened in 2004. On Saturday, Las Vegas surpassed that mark with a high of 96 degrees at Harry Reid International Airport, breaking the March 21 daily record of 92. It was the fourth consecutive day the valley saw record-breaking temperatures that also exceeded 90 degrees.

And the heat is here to stay, at least for another week.

According to the National Weather Service, there is “at least a 75% chance of reaching 90 degrees each day through Thursday.” That would make nine 90-degree days this month — an eye-opening stretch of feverish March weather. For reference, the weather service measured just one 90-degree March day from 1937 to 2004 and 12 90-degree March days from 2004 to 2025 — or 13 in 88 years.

Friday recorded the hottest March day ever at 97 degrees. Sunday’s forecast high is 94, which would break the daily record of 91 before the extreme heat warning expires at 8 p.m.

However, 90-plus degree temperatures are likely to continue as part of what is trending toward the warmest March ever. March 2015 currently holds that record with a mean average temperature of 66.7 degrees. The potential string of 90-degree days ahead would put this March, currently at a mean average temperature of 69.1 as of March 20, well over the top.

The March heat in Las Vegas follows the second-warmest February in the valley since record-keeping began in 1937. This January was the fifth-warmest January on record.
