Motorcyclist killed in crash in southeast Las Vegas

A 37-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash early Wednesday morning in the southeast Las Vegas Valley, according to police.

The Metropolitan Police Department said the crash occurred at about 5:14 a.m. near Patrick Lane and Pecos Road.

Evidence at the scene, witness statements and video surveillance indicate that a 2018 Ducati Monster motorcycle was traveling south on South Pecos Road toward East Patrick Lane when a 2015 Ram Cargo Van entered the intersection on a yellow light and turned left as the signal changed to red.

Police said the Ducati entered the intersection after failing to stop for the red traffic signal and struck the right side of the Ram.

The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle onto the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ram remained at the scene and was not impaired, police noted.
