Stars of the day
Kobe Johnson, Atlanta Hawks
Johnson had one of the best performances from a player off the bench at Summer League to keep Atlanta undefeated.
Johnson scored a game-high 30 points in 23 minutes off the bench and helped the Hawks outlast the Celtics 102-90 to improve to 3-0 at Summer League.
The 6-foot-6 guard made 11 of 18 shots, 4 of 9 3-pointers and added seven rebounds, four assists and two steals in handing the Celtics their first loss of the Las Vegas Summer League.
Johnson was undrafted out of UCLA in 2025, but played all last season with the Hawks’ G-League team, the College Park Skyhawks. Johnson is the younger brother of Hawks forward Jalen Johnson.
Dillon Jones, New York Knicks
Jones did a little bit of everything to help the Knicks get their first win of the 2026 Summer League.
Jones scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds with four assists as New York opened Monday with an 86-75 win over Detroit.
The 6-foot-5 forward signed a two-way contract with the Knicks earlier this year and spent most of the year in the G-League with Westchester, but was on the Knicks’ NBA Finals roster. Jones was with Oklahoma City last year and was an NBA champion as a rookie.
Seth Lundy, Toronto Raptors
Lundy did plenty of damage offensively, but it was his key play on defense that helped the Raptors edge the Pacers.
Lundy scored 22 points and blocked a potential go-ahead layup from Indiana’s Braden Smith in the final seconds, helping the Raptors secure a 94-93 win. Lundy, a 6-foot-4 guard made 8 of 13 shots, was 4 of 7 from 3-point range and added two steals, helping Toronto improve to 2-1 at Summer League.
Lundy was drafted in the second round of the 2023 draft by Atlanta and appeared in nine NBA games in one season with the organization. Lundy signed a two-way contract with the Clippers in 2025, but was waived by the team that summer.
Faces in the crowd
There might not have been the quantity of stars on the fifth day of the 2026 NBA Summer League as the opening days of the event. But that didn’t stop one of Las Vegas’ biggest sports stars and one of the top NBA players from making an appearance on Monday.
Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby showed up to Cox Pavilion to watch the Detroit Pistons battle the New York Knicks. Crosby, who was born in Lapper, Michigan, and played college football at Eastern Michigan, was joined by Raiders teammate and defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV.
Andre Drummond made a return appearance at the Summer League to see his new team, the New York Knicks. The center signed with the Knicks on a one-year deal on July 6.
Over at the Thomas & Mack Center, two-time NBA champion Kawhi Leonard made a brief appearance at the Raptors-Pacers game. Leonard shook hands with Toronto officials, and caught up with former Spurs and Raptors teammate Danny Green, who was the analyst on the ESPN broadcast.
Leonard has been at the center of a busy NBA offseason as the Clippers appeared to have traded Leonard to the Raptors, but on Thursday, reports said the NBA has put the trade on hold while the league completes continues its investigation to see if the Clippers circumvented the salary cap with Leonard.
Also at Thomas & Mack was 13-year NBA veteran Carlos Boozer, who watched his son, Cameron, play for the Memphis Grizzlies in a game between the Dallas Mavericks.
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman arrived for the Chicago Bulls’ meeting with the Utah Jazz. Former North Carolina coach Hubert Davis — who coached the Bulls forward and 2026 fourth overall pick Caleb Wilson in college — and 17-year NBA veteran Mark Jackson also took in the Bulls and Jazz matchup.
