LETTER: Henderson makes the correct move
by Nancy Ozun Las Vegas · Las Vegas Review-JournalWell done to the Henderson City Council for their recent decision to end an employee benefit program in favor of a more sustainable health savings plan for city retirees (Sept. 3 Review-Journal). Bottom line? The program — called Retiree Health Insurance Premium Assistance — was paying out more than was coming in, and it became clear that throwing more money at the problem would not resolve the issue.
This was a wise decision by Henderson’s leaders and demonstrates strong stewardship for the city. We need more leaders who are willing to make decisions that may not always be popular but are necessary. I praise the council for doing the right thing.
