Breakdown: Bishop Gorman defeated Mater Dei for the first time in program history 25-8 Friday night in California after losing its previous five games against the Monarchs. The Gaels (4-1, 1-0 5A Southern League) host Faith Lutheran (3-3, 0-0) to resume local action in a 5A league game. Liberty (3-2, 2-0 Division I East) took control of first place on Friday with a 48-17 rout of Foothill (3-2, 1-1). The Patriots hosts Las Vegas High at 7 p.m. Friday.

Oregon State commit Thaddeus Thatcher completed 21 of 28 passes for 338 yards with five touchdowns to lead Arbor View past Lincoln (San Diego, California) 56-41 on Friday. The Aggies (2-3, 1-0 Division I West) play at Shadow Ridge (3-2, 2-0) at 6 p.m. Friday. Mater East (4-0, 1-0 4A Southern League) held on for a 27-19 win at Sloan Canyon (3-1, 0-1) last Thursday. Mater East plays at Grant (California) at 7 p.m. Friday, and Sloan Canyon plays at Cadence at 7 p.m. Friday.

Coronado (4-1, 2-0 Division I East) defeated Desert Oasis 27-13 on Friday and the Cougars play at Foothill at 6 p.m. Friday in a game that will have implications on who qualifies to play for the Superintendents Cup. Palo Verde edged Moapa Valley 23-19 in Overton and the Panthers (5-0, 1-0 Division II East) play at Silverado (3-2, 2-0) at 6 p.m. Friday for first place.

Blake Nadler threw four touchdown passes, and Nehemiah Dunlap-Myvett caught three touchdowns in Centennial’s 49-6 win at Mojave. The Bulldogs (3-3, 1-1 Division I West) have a bye. Legacy outlasted Clark 27-26 in overtime in a road win on Friday. The Longhorns (4-1, 2-0 Division II West) hosts Canyon Springs (0-4, 0-2) at 7 p.m. Friday.
