LETTER: Why I don’t trust the Postal Service

I read with great interest the letter that Donald Mulcare wrote in Saturday’s RJ Opinion page about his lack of faith in the ability of USPS to deliver mail. In my neighborhood of 50+ year-old homes, we have been experiencing that same problem with mail delivery. After filing a complaint with our Postal Master I was told I live in an area termed “auxiliary” because our neighborhood has the old fashioned house delivery service verses area postal box service, which is preferred by USPS for mail delivery. I personally have missed mailings because there is no delivery person assigned to our area so they pay overtime to deliver mail to who ever is interested in the extra income.

I have lived at the same address for 51 years, and this is the first time we have experienced being treated as second-hand citizens by a government agency. I agree with Mr. Mulcare. I don’t trust our new USPS for reliable mail delivery.
