CPIM trounced as Congress-Led UDF Surges to Power in Kerala

The political tide in Kerala has turned decisively, with CPIM trounced emerging as the defining theme of the 2026 Assembly election. Early counting trends and subsequent leads indicate a strong resurgence of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), which has comfortably crossed the majority mark, leaving the Left Democratic Front (LDF), led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), struggling to keep pace.

As counting unfolded across the state’s 140 constituencies, the UDF quickly established a commanding lead, crossing the crucial 71-seat majority threshold. At various stages of counting, the UDF was ahead in nearly 90–95 seats, while the LDF lagged significantly behind, in some instances trailing below 40 seats.
