Pakistan - a difficult nation for non-Islamic people

Life in Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a difficult country with stringent and biased laws, could be really harsh for people, especially those of from other communities.

On September 19, a court sentenced a Christian woman to death in a blasphemy case.

The case was filed under blasphemy laws against one  Shaughta Karan, accusing her of sharing derogatory material about the Prophet of Islam on social media platform in 2020.

Judge Afzal Majuka of Islamabad-situated Special Court found her guilty under Section 295 C of the Pakistan Penal Code, which carries a death sentence, the media reports said.

It also imposed a fine of Rs 300,000 on the convicted woman.

In addition to it, she was also to seven years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 100,000 under Section 11 of the Pakistan Electronic Crime Act (PECA), the media reports added.

The judge in a brief order, however, said the convict has the right to file an appeal in a high court within 30 days of the decision.

Karan is one of the several non-Muslim people sentenced to death in such cases, which shows high degree of intolerance against the followers of other religions, including Hindus, in the Islamic country.

A total of 94 people accused of blasphemy have been killed in mob attacks between 1994 and 2023.
