AMD GPU Prices Set to Rise as Memory Costs Continue to Climb

AMD is preparing to raise GPU prices as rising memory costs continue to pressure the graphics card market, with the company expected to pass higher GDDR6 expenses on to board partners and buyers.

The company reportedly delayed the increase for about a month because it wanted to avoid losing market share, but the sharp rise in DRAM prices has made the adjustment difficult to avoid.

AMD GPU Price Hike Expected in August

ChannelGate reports that AMD has informed AIB partners about a uniform price increase planned for August 2026, with GPU and memory kit costs expected to rise by at least 10 percent.

The change will likely affect the Radeon RX 9000 series most heavily because AMD uses GDDR6 memory across the current lineup, while several older Radeon cards also rely on the same memory standard.

NVIDIA has already increased pricing tied to GDDR6 and GDDR7 memory, which has pushed RTX 50 series prices higher in some markets, including China. AMD now appears ready to follow a similar path as memory suppliers continue to charge more.

Some hardware makers have reportedly seen DRAM costs nearly double, leaving GPU companies with less room to absorb the increase without hurting margins. As a result, AMD plans to pass at least part of the higher cost through its partners and eventually to consumers.

The timing creates another challenge for AMD because NVIDIA still leads GPU sales in many regions, while Radeon cards often compete by offering better value at lower prices.

Higher Radeon prices could weaken that advantage and slow demand, especially among buyers who have already delayed upgrades because of expensive graphics cards and other PC components.
