Oceans Calling music festival in Ocean City canceled due to nor’easter
by Brad Matthews · The Washington TimesThis weekend’s Oceans Calling music festival in Ocean City, Maryland, was canceled Friday because of coastal flooding and strong winds being caused by a nor’easter off the Atlantic coast.
Organizers said the weather prevented them from continuing to set up the event and that they followed the advice of the National Weather Service and local officials in deciding to cancel the weekend-long festival.
Strong winds, coastal flooding and heavy rain are expected to hit much of the East Coast over the weekend.

The acts that were due to perform included Hootie & the Blowfish, Shaggy, Ludacris, Dave Matthews Band, Third Eye Blind, Gwen Stefani and Mumford & Sons.
The National Weather Service office in Wakefield, Virginia, whose jurisdiction includes Ocean City, said Friday that high tides are expected to cause flooding into the weekend and that the nor’easter will cause wind gusts as strong as 45 to 50 mph from Friday afternoon into Saturday morning.
The festival was scheduled to open Friday, but the first day was canceled because of the weather’s impact, including beach erosion at the festival site, organizers said.
This is not the first time the Oceans Calling festival has been axed because of weather. The 2022 festival, which was supposed to be the inaugural event, was canceled because of Hurricane Ian.
