‘Avengers: Endgame’ reclaims No. 2 spot in box office sales in its return to screens
by Juliet La Sala · The Washington Times“Avengers: Endgame” this weekend reclaimed the No. 2 spot as the highest-grossing movie of all time — seven years after it was first released.
Disney re-released the 2019 Marvel superhero blockbuster in advance of its sequel, “Avengers: Doomsday,” which is set for release in December.
Dubbed “Avengers: Endgame Encore,” the re-released film garnered $26 million in North America and $60 million in overseas markets, increasing its overall box office to $2.885 billion. It includes several minutes of new footage previewing the upcoming sequel, the 39th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Disney global distribution chief Andrew Cripps called the opening “incredible” for a seven-year-old film, underscoring the franchise’s enduring fan base, Deadline reported.
“Endgame” had been eclipsed for No. 2 by “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which has collected $2.459 billion worldwide since its release in July.
“Avatar,” the 2009 sci-fi epic written and directed by James Cameron, retains the No. 1 spot, with a global box office of more than $2.92 billion.
