Mets left fielder Juan Soto leaves game after getting hit on right hand with a pitch

WASHINGTON — New York Mets left fielder Juan Soto left Saturday’s game against the Washington Nationals after being hit by a pitch on his right hand in the ninth inning.

Soto was hit by Richard Lovelady’s 91 mph sinker and immediately spun around, then began shaking his right hand while walking toward first base. He then turned around, was met by an athletic trainer and returned to the dugout.

Soto is hitting .278 with 27 homers and 69 RBIs in his second season with the Mets. He had two injured list stints this season because of calf strains.
