Letter to the editor: Let’s not all go the way of New York
· The Washington TimesOPINION:
The fact that a large percentage of Democrats consist of well-meaning climate warriors and activists for “women’s rights” and the socially oppressed (including illegal immigrants) is misleading.
These people are, in fact, the most powerful components of the Democratic Party’s cabal of power, but they are not in charge of the party today. They are simply being used by militant ideologues who strive for power at the expense of our political heritage.
The midterm elections across the country this year will be a testing ground for what democracy really is. Is it an open forum for expressing and resolving differences through discussion and compromise? Or is it a government tyranny created by rioting, chaos and militant, socialist rhetoric, combined with a total lack of civility?
I believe there are plenty of thoughtful Democratic voters, even if there are none in Congress at the moment. These voters should realize that there is no future for their environmental and other concerns in the present, militant Democratic Party.
Keep your eye on New York, from which the wealthy and businesses are fleeing owing to the Empire State’s punishing leftist policies. One state may bleed out and die, but the rest do not have to.
