Letter to the editor: New York is addicted to woke policies, high taxes

· The Washington Times

OPINION:

A recent Siena University poll found that 67% percent of New Yorkers believe the state is going in the wrong direction, due to the unbearably high cost of living.

In a normal world, this development would inspire hope that the Empire State would change red later this year, starting with a new GOP governor and state legislature. But in the insane world of New York politics, such an outcome is far from a sure thing.

As a prominent New York City building supply business owner recently told me, “New York — both the city and state — are like a heroin addict. They need to hit rock bottom before they admit there’s a problem.”

Between the insanely high taxes, the wasteful spending and the pathetically soft-on-crime, woke policies that have entrenched themselves in state politics for decades, here’s hoping that enough New Yorkers finds themselves sitting at rock bottom this November.

Maybe then they will turn to the naloxone that is the Republican Party to run their state.

I know my beautiful state of Florida could use some relief from New York’s mass exodus.
