Letter to the editor: Still time to save Virginia — and the U.S
· The Washington TimesOPINION:
Do the White House and the Republican National Committee not realize that the future of the Trump administration, and therefore the country, may well be decided by 7 p.m. April 21?
A victory for the gerrymandering amendment on the ballot that day in Virginia will start the November midterms with a four-seat Republican loss. Virtually automatically gaining four more seats can give control of the House of Representatives to the Democrats, aside from what else they may pick up.
With that control and their control of the budget purse strings, the Democrats will surely impeach President Trump and others and defund most of the president’s programs.
The resulting paralysis of the Trump administration will have long-term harmful effects on America and the world.
The Democrats are outspending the Republicans by at least 3-to-1 in this gerrymander referendum in Virginia. They realize it is their key to control of the House.
President Trump still has time to get his wealthy supporters to ante up for Virginia. While he’s at it, he should appeal directly to his supporters in Virginia, asking them to vote on or before Tuesday to save his administration and America.
