Letter to the editor: Democrats would rather see nuclear Iran than Trump-made peace

· The Washington Times

OPINION:

We can fully expect the Democratic Party and mainstream media elite to condemn any President Trump-led Iran deal as a ’complete capitulation’ (“Trump says war-ending deal with Iran reached,” Web, June 14).

You can practically see the talking points being drafted and the news anchors practicing their somber, disapproving expressions.

Predictably, former President Barack Obama will lead the charge to protect his own flawed legacy, while partisan critics echo the script without understanding the actual mechanics of the agreement.

Unlike the previous administration’s approach — which prioritized process and virtue-signaling over strict compliance — a Mr. Trump-negotiated deal will demand total verification.

Mr. Trump is realistic; he knows Iran will try to cheat. What truly infuriates his detractors is that he is bypassing partisan politics to actually make the world safer.

Tragically, the president’s opponents seem so blinded by partisan bias that they would rather see Iran develop a nuclear weapon than see this administration secure a historic win.
