Rep. Nancy Mace’s ex-fiance, business associates charged with sex crimes

by · The Washington Times

South Carolina authorities charged Rep. Nancy Mace’s ex-fiance and two of his business associates with the sex crimes she described in a lengthy House floor speech last year.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said it charged Ms. Mace’s former lover, 53-year-old Brendan Patrick Bryant, with voyeurism in the October 2018 incident in Charleston.

Investigators also accused John Douglas Osborne, 46, of sexual assault and battery, while Eric Bernard Bowman, also 46, was indicted for voyeurism, obstruction of justice and publishing the name of a victim of criminal sexual conduct.

All three men were jailed in Charleston County.

Police said the charges are connected to sexual assault in which a 23-year-old woman became drunk, fell into a pool and passed out after removing her wet clothes.

The documents said Mr. Osborne performed sex acts on the woman while Mr. Bryant and Mr. Bowman looked on.
