Lady Advises Young Women To Date Married Men For Financial Benefits

A young Ghanaian woman has sparked widespread debate on social media after advising young women not to reject a “good man” simply because he is already married.

Speaking on the Talk Your Shhhh show on Joy Prime, the lady, identified as Vera, argued that some women may not be fortunate enough to encounter several good men in their lifetime and should therefore take advantage of such opportunities when they arise.

According to her, if a woman is struggling financially and happens to meet a married man who is willing to support her, she should not necessarily walk away because of his marital status.

“If at that stage in your life, a good man comes into your life and he is married and you are suffering, God won’t come down from Heaven to come and help you, but fortunately yours came through a married man.”

Vera further encouraged women in such situations to make the most of the relationship by using the financial support to improve their own lives.

She advised that a woman who does not intend to become a second wife could remain in the relationship temporarily, build herself financially and eventually leave when she becomes independent.

“Grab it but be wise. Build yourself while in that relationship,” she said.

She added that if the man was willing to provide for her and expected exclusivity, a woman could date him for a period while using the opportunity to establish herself.

According to Vera, once the woman has achieved her financial goals, she could end the relationship and pursue marriage with someone else.

“If after a year, you get everything you want from him, you can end that relationship and go marry your Prince Charming.”

Vera’s comments, made during a discussion centred on “What is your definition of a good man, and do they exist?”, have since generated significant reactions online.

Some social media users criticised the programme for providing a platform for advice they believe could negatively influence young women, particularly younger viewers who may interpret the remarks as encouragement to become involved with married men for financial gain.

Others have questioned Vera’s definition of a “good man”, particularly where the relationship involves a married man potentially being unfaithful to his wife.

Fellow Panelist Disagrees

Another guest on the programme strongly disagreed with Vera’s position and challenged the idea that a woman should spend years involved with a married man while waiting to become financially secure.

The panelist argued that a woman could end up sacrificing valuable years pursuing a relationship that may not lead to marriage.

She questioned the wisdom of spending years with a married man only to reach an older age still searching for a suitable partner to marry.

The contrasting opinions have intensified the debate online, with viewers divided over whether Vera’s comments represent practical advice on financial independence or an unhealthy justification for relationships involving married people.

The controversy has also reignited conversations about what constitutes a “good man”, the responsibilities involved in relationships with married partners, and the pressures young women face when seeking financial stability.
