Education Minister Assures Full Investigation Into Death of UCC Student Innocentia Avinu
by Armani Brooklyn · GHANA PAGEThe Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has assured the public that a full-scale investigation will be conducted into the tragic death of Ms. Innocentia Avinu, a Level 200 student of the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
The assurance comes after the young student’s lifeless body was discovered on a beach in Cape Coast approximately 30 hours after she was reported missing under circumstances that have left family, friends, and the university community searching for answers.
According to reports, Innocentia Avinu was found dead with no visible signs of physical injury or missing body parts, deepening the mystery surrounding her death. The shocking development has sparked widespread concern and calls for justice from loved ones and members of the public.
In a statement, Haruna Iddrisu urged the University of Cape Coast to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies to facilitate a thorough, transparent, and credible investigation into the incident.
The Education Minister also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the entire university community during this difficult period.
Friends and relatives of the deceased have described Innocentia as a respectful, well-behaved, and promising young woman whose untimely death has left them devastated.
Speaking on the matter, one grieving associate expressed disbelief over the circumstances surrounding her death.
“She was full of life and comes from a good home and was very well-behaved, so it’s surprising that someone would do this to her. No one has any excuse to take her life from her, and the State has the responsibility to find who did this because it’s her today and it could be any of us tomorrow. We must ensure she gets justice,” the person said.
The incident has generated significant public attention, with many Ghanaians calling on security agencies to leave no stone unturned in uncovering the truth behind the student’s death.
As investigations continue, authorities are expected to examine all possible leads to determine the circumstances that led to Innocentia Avinu’s death and bring any persons found responsible to justice.
The tragic loss has cast a shadow over the University of Cape Coast community, with students and staff mourning the death of a young life cut short under mysterious circumstances.
