Parents to drunk to take care of their infant arrest at Dordrecht train station
Two drunk parents were arrested at Dordrecht station in the early hours of Saturday, police reported on Facebook. A child, described as younger than one year old, was with them. The parents have been arrested.
According to the officers, the parents were so drunk that a conversation was not possible. “They did not cooperate with the check and, because of their condition, were unable to care for the child,” police wrote.
Officers took the baby to protect its “safety and health.” The parents were arrested on “suspicion of intentionally leaving a dependent person in a helpless condition.”
Police first took in the child, who was examined by paramedics. Temporary care was arranged for the baby. Police said that was done through the Crisis Intervention Team, which specializes in assistance and support for minors in “acute situations.”
