Dramatic image shows overturned car on country lane as man arrested

Police have released a dramatic image showing the aftermath of a crash on a Derbyshire country lane. Officers were called to the scene of a single-car collision in Scaddows Lane, near Ticknall, on Monday (October 1) morning after reports a car had left the carriageway.

Upon arrival, they found an overturned white hatchback in a ditch to the side of the road. A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for Mercia and Hilton Police SNT said: "We received a report of an overturned vehicle in a ditch earlier today. Officers Bob, Finch and Allen attended the incident on Scaddows Lane, near Ticknall.

"On arrival, in very inclement weather conditions, the trio discovered a car on its side, having left the road and collided with a fence and hedgerow. A man in his 30s was arrested.

"The man has since been released under investigation, while further enquiries take place." The road was reopened early on Tuesday afternoon after being closed while emergency services attended the incident.
