Teenage daughter of Flaming Lips member missing after Seattle concert

Charlotte “Bowie” Drozd, daughter of The Flaming Lips’ multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd, was reported missing in Seattle on Sunday.

She was last seen near the Space Needle and Seattle Monorail around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, the Seattle Police Department posted on X.

Her father’s prominent Oklahoma City rock band had performed Friday at Climate Pledge Arena as part of Weezer’s Blue Album anniversary tour.

SPD did not initially identify 16-year-old Charlotte Drozd by her full name or connection with the band when it issued the missing person alert Sunday. Steven Drozd and the band later confirmed her identity on Monday in a series of social media posts seeking the public’s help.

An SPD spokesperson confirmed that a detective had been assigned to Charlotte Drozd’s case, but could not provide any updates.

“There’s no criminal investigation that we’ve conducted, there’s no kidnapping report that’s been filed, nothing like that. So it’s a standard missing juvenile case,” Seattle police spokesperson Officer Eric Muñoz said.

The 16-year-old, who has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing khaki shorts and pink shoes, was last seen near the 400 block of Broad Street on Saturday, the morning after the concert.

According to posts from the band and police, Charlotte Drozd stands between 5 foot 7 and 5 foot 9 and weighs 130 to 140 pounds. Anyone with information regarding her location is encouraged to contact Seattle police at 206-625-5011 or Becky Drozd at 405-831-6795.

The Flaming Lips were scheduled to perform Tuesday as the tour continues in Sacramento, Calif. Members of the Drozd family and The Flaming Lips’ representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
