Samsung Can’t Keep the “Perfect” Wide Galaxy Z Fold 8 in Stock
by Kellen · Droid LifeWhen the rumors of a wide-body Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 started circulating, the idea made some sense, but it also seemed like Samsung was moving in too many foldable directions, all to try to combat Apple foldable rumors. Did we really need 3 styles to choose from, when the Galaxy Z Fold 7 had achieved what I believed was foldable perfection the year prior? As it turns out, we most definitely needed this new wide guy.
Our Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra reviews will arrive shortly, but as a bit of a spoiler, I can tell you that Tim has already called the wide version that he’s been testing, “Perfect.” In fact, he said, “Samsung made the perfect foldable and that’s not really up for debate anymore.”
That’s a wild thing to state, but I feel like I’ve seen several other media personalities suggest the same. Samsung has apparently knocked it out of the park with the smaller, wider Galaxy Z Fold 8. I cannot wait to move on from the Ultra and test it myself.
If pre-order status in the US is anything to go by, you also love the idea of this thing. Well, either that or Samsung severely underestimated demand, because most colors and smaller storage models are sold out for at least an extra couple of weeks.
If you head to Samsung’s store, you’ll notice Cream, Graphite, and online exclusive Pistachio are all soldout with new shipping dates of August 21. That’s a full 2-weeks after the device is supposed to officially launch.
The only 256GB model you can get by August 7 is the Lavender version, which look, no one wants.
Should you jump up to 512GB, Pistachio and Cream are both showing August 21 dates, while Graphite in 512GB can at least be had by August 7. And then for the rich-rich folks, Pistachio in 1TB is delayed as well.
By comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is fully available by August 7 in 256GB in all colors.
What’s the deal, why is everyone loving this shape and size for a foldable? The combination of a shorter phone is probably helping, plus it opens up into a wider media consumption device. It’s pocketable, easy to hold in the hand, and sort of makes more sense as a 2-in-1 versus the standard Ultra shape. You’ve shared more at this post.
