Galaxy Z Fold 4 Drops to Quarterly Update Schedule in Final Year

by · Droid Life

Officially introduced in August 2022, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are entering their final year of updates. With that milestone, their update cadence will be reduced from a monthly schedule to a quarterly one.

This morning, Samsung updated their mobile security page to show that they have demoted the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (and Flip 4) to the quarterly security updates level for their 5th year of support. This is a sign that they have reached their final year of updates, following 4 years of promised monthly and OS updates.

Both phones received a fresh update last week, but going forward, that will likely now happen every few months rather than every single month. They are not expected to see any other major OS updates.

Since we are in this final year of updates, you might want to think about upgrading to one of Samsung’s newer foldables, like the lovely Galaxy Z Fold 8. Samsung will currently give you $200 for your Fold 4 as an instant discount.

Anyone still hanging on to a Galaxy Z Fold 4? We called it “nearly perfected” in our review. I’m curious how that held up.
