Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Serena Williams will partner with Carlos Alcaraz for a superstar mixed doubles squad at the 2026 U.S. Open, tournament organizers announced Sunday.

The tennis stars will play together in the mixed doubles at Flushing Meadows next week, the U.S. Tennis Association announced on Saturday.

Serena Williams and Carlos Alcaraz will form a blockbuster mixed doubles partnership at the 2026 US Open after receiving a wild card. While Alcaraz prepares to defend his singles title, Williams’ participation in the singles draw remains uncertain.

44-year-old Williams returns to the US Open for the first time since 2022.

The U.S. Tennis Association announced Saturday that Williams and Alcaraz have been awarded a wild card into the event, joining a stacked lineup of marquee pairings.
