Sen. Francis Escudero will be elected presiding officer on July 6, when the impeachment court starts the trial proper of Vice President Sara Duterte, Sen. Panfilo Lacson confirmed.

(Updated) Sen. Ping Lacson says the majority bloc has initially agreed to elect Sen. Chiz Escudero, who enabled the leadership takeover on June 3.

Acting Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian’s bloc is studying the possibility of electing another senator to preside over the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte amid rumors that Sen. Francis Escudero would get the job.
