Aug. 28 (UPI) -- A federal court judge Thursday night barred the Trump administration from enforcing mail-in voting restrictions, ruling in favor of voting rights groups and more than two dozen Democratic-led states as November's midterm elections near.

Trump wants the federal government to maintain a national list of eligible voters and would tell the Postal Service to deliver ballots only to voters on that list.

The Trump administration is moving ahead with plans to rescind a quarter-century-old rule that blocked logging and other development on national forest lands, drawing the ire of environmentalists nationwide.

The rule change would affect the 9 million undeveloped acres of Alaska's Tongass National Forest, plus vast swaths elsewhere around the United States.
