Falana made the call on Thursday during a June 12 protest held to draw attention to insecurity, economic hardship and concerns about Nigeria’s democratic development.

Mr Falana's remarks came against the backdrop of recent mass abductions of schoolchildren that have renewed concerns over insecurity across the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the protesting teachers from different local government Areas in Lagos State marched from Ikeja Under Bridge to the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA) in Alausa.

The governor spoke while addressing demonstrators at the Oyo State Government House in Ibadan amid growing concern over the abduction of pupils and teachers during attacks on schools in the Ahoro-Esiele community.

The demonstrators—consisting of youths, mothers, and traders—gathered at the Panseke skating ground in Abeokuta, Ogun State

The protesters, who gathered at the busy junction in Ibadan, called on the government and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of the victims and tackle rising cases of kidnapping across the state.
