The fire, which broke out on Wednesday evening, continued for more than 10 hours, causing extensive damage in one of Lagos’ busiest commercial districts.

Officials said thick smoke and rising heat were hampering access to upper floors, complicating suppression efforts and increasing danger to occupants and responders.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident.
