Laos is the current chair of ASEAN and will be hosting the ASEAN-India Summit and the East Asia Summit. PM Modi is expected to review the progress of India-ASEAN relations and chart the future direction of cooperation.

The visit is at the invitation of Lao PDR’s Prime Minister, H.E. Sonexay Siphandone, as Lao PDR holds the ASEAN Chairmanship this year

New Delhi, Oct 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Laos on October 10 and 11 during which he will attend the 21st ASEAN-India

During the visit, Modi will attend the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit being hosted by Laos as the current chair of ASEAN. He is also expected to hold bilateral meetings on the margins of the two summits.
