Myanmar authorities have arrested 60 illegal Chinese nationals involved in online scam and gambling operations during separate raids in Tachileik and Myawaddy, according to official reports. The Myanmar government has been intensifying efforts to combat online fraud and illegal online gambling activities, while also coordinating with neighboring countries to prevent such operations from taking root inside the country. As part of ongoing clearance and inspection operations, joint security forces carried out raids in targeted areas on May 22.

Ten more illegal Chinese nationals who had been involved in online scam and gambling operations and were attempting to flee were arrested near the Thanlwin River in Matman Township, according to reports. The Myanmar government has been carrying out operations to completely eliminate online scam and gambling activities from within the country, in cooperation with domestic organizations and neighboring governments.
