A rescue team has reached Himlung Himal base camp to search for 12 missing Nepalese workers and guides after an avalanche. Bad weather and dangerous mountain conditions are hampering efforts as Nepal faces another mountain tragedy.

The avalanche at the base camp of the 7,126 metre Himlung Himal peak in the Nar Phu area buried a tent where nine climbers and 13 support staff were taking shelter.

The avalanche comes amid heavy rain and snowfall across Nepal, which has disrupted roads, trekking routes and mountaineering expeditions.
