Nov. 7 (UPI) -- German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Wednesday night that he has dismissed the finance minister, resulting in the collapse of his three-party coalition government.

Olaf Scholz sacked Finance Minister Christian Lindner yesterday, declaring there was no longer any “basis of trust”.

The chancellor’s left-leaning Social Democrats will now effectively lead a minority government with its remaining coalition partner.

The chancellor said he would call a vote of confidence in his government early next year.
