Mary Jane Veloso was formally released from the Correctional Institution for Women after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. granted her an absolute pardon.

Veloso's lawyer explained that unlike their other clients who were released due to dismissal of cases or acquittal, Veloso’s case is the first time that the President itself had ordered the release.

Rep. Albert Garcia said the Office of the President will release an announcement regarding the matter in the following days.
