From The Hindu Archives, September 10, 1926: The following is from ‘The Daily Herald’ — It is reported from Bombay, says the Indian News Service, that His Exalted Highness, the Nizam of Hyderabad has sent a very strongly worded protest to the Viceroy, urging that in future the relations of the Nizam should be with the Viceroy as representative of the King and not with the Government of India.

From The Hindu Archives, September 8, 1926: General Hertzog’s speech at a meeting in the City Hall on the eve of his departure to attend the Imperial Conference dealing with the Flag Bill has foreshadowed a compromise and he declared that if the Committee on the flag should recommend the inclusion of a crown in it he was confident that the Government would approve it.

From The Hindu Archives, August 31, 1926: Mr. Saldanha presented the report of the Select Committee on the Bill to amend the Madras District Municipalities Act 1920 and moved that the Bill be taken into consideration at once. He said that the right of public pathway should be given to all classes in respect of roads and streets maintained at the expense of the municipality.
