Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Local politicians and people gathered to raise a Pride flag at the Stonewall National Monument in New York City Thursday, after the U.S. Department of the Interior removed a flag on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people attended a rally on Thursday to re-raise the flag, setting up a defiant response to the Trump administration’s assault on diversity initiatives.
