‘I’m 100 per cent serious’ – Tyson Fury responds to Eddie Hearn on talkSPORT saying he has ‘doubts’ about The Gypsy King’s fight offer to Anthony Joshua

by · talkSPORT

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is not shying away from his recent fight offer to Anthony Joshua to make the ‘Battle of Britain’.

‘The Gypsy King’ took to social media earlier this week to offer AJ a shot at his WBC world title, as an undisputed heavyweight title clash with Oleksandr Usyk later this year looks out of the question.

A fight between Fury and Usyk could see the first undisputed heavyweight champion crowned in the four belt era

After Usyk beat Joshua by split decision, Fury had initially called out the Ukrainian.

But the unified WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion does not want to return to the ring until next year, as he needs to recover from various injuries and spend time with his family.

This meant that Fury quickly turned his attention to Joshua and AJ seems interested in making the fight.

“Yea calm,” Joshua replied on Twitter, “I don’t do the online discussions just for clout, so if your really about it shout @258mgt. I’ll be ready in December. Khalas.”

Since then, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has told talkSPORT that both himself and AJ want to make the fight, but he is unconvinced by the sincerity of Fury’s fight offer.

This is a fair concern to have, given Fury’s erratic behaviour over the past few weeks, dipping in and out of retirement, setting unrealistic deadlines and asking for £500million, and he has now called out Usyk, Joshua, Derek Chisora and even Manuel Charr.

Hearn is skeptical of whether Fury is serious, due to ‘The Gypsy King’s’ past unpredictability

“Fury’s outstanding at getting the public to believe absolute nonsense.” Hearn told talkSPORT.

“It worries me actually what people do believe, if you look at the timeline over the last two or three weeks, it’s unbelievably bizarre.

“Personally, I don’t believe Fury is serious about this, but if he is, which I said to the Warrens last night, 100 percent we will sit down and make the fight.”

With that being said, Fury has now put Hearn’s worries to rest, as he posted on Twitter in response saying, “This is easy fight to make normal champion to challenger privileges, & I’m 100% serious.
