Mural conservators are working to uncover angels hidden under layers of paint for more than a century at the Boston church made famous by Paul Revere.

The Old Church is famous for hanging two lanterns from its steeple on the night of Revere's 1775 ride to warn of the British army's arrival.

Church officials painted over the angels in 1912 with thick coats of white paint, part of an austere renovation that restorationists are trying to reverse.

Conservators have uncovered eight angels in a historic Boston church that counted Paul Revere as a bell ringer and played a pivotal role in the Revolutionary War.
