Milan set to reward Chukwueze with new deal after impressive start
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineAC Milan are preparing to open contract talks with Samuel Chukwueze after the Nigeria international’s impressive start to the season prompted the Serie A club to consider extending his stay beyond 2028.
The 27-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Fulham, has started all three of Milan’s opening league matches and provided two assists since being handed a new role as a right-sided wing-back by manager Ruben Amorim.
Chukwueze set up Adrien Rabiot for Milan’s goal against Torino before assisting Alphadjo Cisse in their meeting with Juventus last weekend, while also contributing defensively in the unfamiliar position.
Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira reports that Milan are ready to begin negotiations with Chukwueze’s representatives over a contract extension that could keep him at the club until 2031.
The Nigerian’s current deal runs until June 2028, although formal discussions over a renewal have yet to begin.

Chukwueze has struggled to establish himself as a regular first-choice player since joining Milan from Villarreal in July 2023, with inconsistent form and limited playing opportunities previously raising the possibility of his departure.
However, his early-season performances under Amorim appear to have changed the situation, with the Milan boss having spoken highly of the Nigerian since taking charge.
For now, Chukwueze’s focus remains on maintaining his form on the pitch as he looks to build on what has been described as his strongest start to a season since moving to Italy.
