Officials of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) on April 29, 2026 paid a visit to Premium Eagle Media Limited, publishers of The Eagle Online: www.theeagleonline.com.ng, and The Eagle Online Nigeria YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@theeagleonlinenigeria/, with a reaffirmation of its continued support for the media.

The delegation of the NLNG was led by the Manager, Public Affairs and Corporate Communications, Anne-Marie Palmer-Ikuku.

She came with the new Head of Media Relations and Corporate Communications, Iwokiri Aprioku.

They were received by the Publisher of The Eagle Online and former President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), Dotun Oladipo, alongside the Head of Content and Office (HOCO), Raji Yemisi.

Palmer-Ikuku introduced Aprioku to Oladipo, describing the visit as part of efforts to ensure continuity in the relationship built over the years between NLNG and the media.

She said: “He’s now the Head of Media Relations, taking over from Elkana Chawai.

He would like to work with you as well.”

She appreciated the support The Eagle Online had given NLNG over the years.

Palmer-Ikuku said: “You really, really supported us.

“From when you were in Nigerian Compass, and when you moved to start yours, The Eagle Online, you continued the relationship.”

Responding, Oladipo said the relationship built over the years remained strong and could not be erased.

He said Palmer-Ikoku had laid a solid foundation that cannot be destroyed even if she leaves the firm, adding that even if she leave NLNG, it would also be transferred to any other place she works.

He said: “The foundation you have laid can never be erased.

“I’m not just speaking on behalf of myself.

“I’m speaking on behalf of a lot of us who have met you.”

Oladipo noted that only a few public relations professionals in the corporate space had been able to build such trusted relationships with online publishers.

She said: “The kind of relationship you established with us, only a few people in PR have succeeded in building such.

“Very few.

“So, we are really, really happy with NLNG.”

Speaking on the role of journalism and responsible publishing, the former GOCOP president said the organisation remained committed to ethical standards and internal discipline.

He added that GOCOP members are focused on strengthening journalism and protecting credibility in the digital media space.

He said: “We are about 150 members now.

“But despite that increase in number, there is still a lot of screening.

“There is a committee, which I chair, which is the disciplinary committee.”

He said the committee monitors members and ensures that the highest standard of journalism is practised.

Oladipo also commended NLNG’s contribution to the Nigerian economy, especially in the energy sector, saying local production of gas had helped reduce pressure on citizens.

He said: “I’m a believer in local production.

“What you manufacture locally is good for you, because it is cheaper and it develops your economy.”

He also called for increased support for online publishers, particularly through advert placements and institutional partnerships.

He said: “We need more support.

“We look forward to more from companies like yours.”

He explained that rising operational costs had made media business more demanding, stressing the need for stronger collaboration with organisations like NLNG.

On training and professional development, Oladipo praised the company’s support for capacity building through media-focused programmes and the yearly partnership for GOCOP’s conference.

He said: “Those training sessions are very important to us.

“They help us.

“They give us the mileage that we need.”

He disclosed that as had become the tradition, GOCOP’s annual conference would hold in the first week of October 2026, expressing hope that apart from the usual sponsorship, NLNG would be represented though it has a major programme that week.

Welcoming Aprioku, Oladipo said the new media relations head would enjoy the same cooperation given to his predecessor.

He said: “My brother, you are welcome on board.

“I know we will work together.”

The visit ended with a tour of Premium Eagle Media facilities and further discussions on sustaining strategic collaboration between NLNG and the online publishing community.
