British Tourist, 32, Dies in Hotel Room on Crete

A 32-year-old British tourist has died in a hotel in Georgioupolis, in western Crete.

She was sharing a room with her mother, who found her unconscious and alerted hotel staff. Paramedics tried to revive her. Doctors declared her dead at the scene.

Local authorities say she had no known health problems. They have opened an investigation and ordered an autopsy.

The UK Foreign Office has been asked for comment.

The death comes in the same week as a separate case on Crete, in which a 60-year-old British visitor was pulled from the sea at Kato Gouves and later died at Venizelio Hospital. That case is also under autopsy.
