Greek Tax Authority Investigates Clinic Linked to Mazonakis Death
by Kosta Papadopoulos · Greek City TimesThe Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) has launched a tax investigation at a medical clinic in Kolonaki, Athens, as a separate inquiry proceeds alongside the police and prosecutorial investigation into the death of Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis.
According to information from AADE, teams from the tax authority visited the clinic on Thursday and began a detailed examination of the business and the tax records of those responsible for its operation.
The tax investigation is separate from the ongoing police and prosecutorial inquiries into Mazonakis’ death.
As part of the inspection, AADE officials collected accounting records and hard drives, according to the same sources.
Investigators are focusing particularly on bank transactions, tax documents and declared income, as they examine the clinic’s financial and tax profile.
The AADE inspection follows scrutiny of the clinic by other authorities and organisations as the wider investigation surrounding Mazonakis’ death continues.
